Halloween for Toddlers
Halloween is a time for older children to dress up in fun spooky costumes, and go trick or treating. Being cute is no longer on their minds - they want to curdle your blood and send a chill up and down your spine. Your toddler, on the other hand, is likely to still find the images of ghosts and witches very scary. They need to be taken care of during Halloween, to make sure they do not become frightened of the dark or have bad dreams because of the escapades during Halloween of the older children.Most toddlers have a favorite television cartoon, movie or story book character. Small children get a lot more pleasure from dressing up as a familiar character they know and love. They are still young enough to like to be praised for looking cute, and are more likely to get a lot of fun out of acting out the role of their favorite character than out of trying to be an evil witch or goblin.
Favorite characters are changing all the time, depending on what programs and movies are showing. While you may be thinking about the old standbys of Superman, Batman, Mickey Mouse, Scooby Doo, Spiderman and the like, your toddler may have a totally different perception about what characters are "hot" right now. You need to be guided by which television, cartoon, movie or story book characters make your toddler's eyes light up with excitement.
